CBEC amends jurisdiction of Shillong commissionerate and moves certain areas under Guwahati

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (2) of rule 3 of the Central Excise Rules, 2002, the Central Board of Excise and Customs hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) number 14/2002-Central Excise (N.T.), published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section 3, Sub-section(i), vide number G.S.R. 182(E), dated the 8 th March, 2002, namely,-

In the said notification,

(i) in Table I, against serial number 21, in column (3), after the entry (ii) Shillong the entry (iii) Guwahati shall be inserted ;

(ii) in Table II,

(a) against serial number 29, in column (3), for the existing entry, Districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sibsagar, Jorhat of the State of Assam and the districts of Tirap, Changlang, Anjaw, Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley, Dibang Valley of the State of Arunachal Pradesh and the Districts of Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, Tuensang of the state of Nagaland shall be substituted;

(b) after serial number 32, the following serial number and the entries shall be inserted, namely:-

Guwahati

Districts of Kamrup, Nalbari, Morigaon, Barpeta, Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Goalpara, Sonitpur, Darrang, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji of the State of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh (except the Districts of Tirap, Changlang, Anjaw, Lohit, Lower Dibang Valley, Dibang Valley) and the Districts of East Garo Hills, West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills of the State of Meghalaya.

(c) against serial number 78, in column (3), for the existing entry, In the State of Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland (except the Districts of Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, Tuensang) and Meghalaya (except the Districts of East, West and South Garo Hills) and the Districts of Nagaon, Silchar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, North Cachar Hills, Karbi Anglong and Golaghat in the State of Assam shall be substituted;

(iii) in Table III, against serial number 61, in column (3), after the words Shillong, the word Guwahati shall be inserted.

Note.- The principal notification number 14/2002-Central Excise (N.T.) dated the 8 th March, 2002 was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section 3, Sub-section(i), vide number G.S.R.182 (E), dated the 8 th March, 2002, and the same was subsequently amended by notification number 22/2002-Central Excise (N.T.) vide number G.S.R. 403(E), dated the 4 th June, 2002 and vide notification No. 44/2008- Central Excise (N.T.) , dated the 6 th October, 2008, which was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section 3, Sub-section(i), vide number G.S.R.721 (E), dated the 6 th October, 2008.
